What's to Love About Denver International Airport: A sneak peak inside the Westin Hotel in the airport

By Staff Writer

During the annual World Airport Awards rankings, Denver International Airport held the eighth spot for all airports, which obviously makes the airport liked by its over 50 million passengers per year. Moreover,  one improvement of the airport is the brand-new Westin Hotel, which will officially open for a couple more days as crews put the finishing touches.

According to World Airport Guides, the Denver Airport is a main international airport, where passengers fly to various destinations across the USA and world-wide. It serves as the main entry-point to the Rocky Mountains and is based approximately 20 miles from the center of Denver.

Moreover, the Denver International has the second largest public art display in Colorado. It is also considered as the largest airport in the United States and in the past years the DEN Airport has been voted the Best Airport in North America by the readers of Business Traveler magazine five times and in this year's annual World Airport Awards ranking, it garnered the eighth spot for all airports with more than 50 million passengers per year.

Although frequent flyers could not deny for a fact that airports are becoming a usual place for them, some may call these airports there passion. This includes Kim Day, who was an architect of DEN Airport. She claimed that what shaped her career was running airports. "I see the world, and airports, differently than most people," she told the audience at the Skift Global Forum via The New York Times, a travel conference held last month in Brooklyn.

She added, "I can't walk into a space without critiquing it and wanting to rearrange the furniture. And I plan every vacation around buildings and spaces around the world that I want to see." Since taking over at the Denver airport in 2008, Day has helped to transform it into the envy of airports around the country.

The airport architect also revealed the newest improvement to the famed airport is the brand-new, a 519-room Westin Hotel, which is just located next to the iconic canopies of the Jeppesen terminal.  Fox 31 Denver also claimed that before the launching date of the hotel, an auction is being held to be the first to stay in one of the suites at the hotel. This is a part of Denver's Road Home, which is the city's initiative to end homelessness. The auction also includes travelers being joined by Mayor Michael Hancock for a VIP experience.

And next April, the airport is set to add a light rail, with access from a terminal under the hotel, and just a few minutes from security. This seemingly gets travelers from the airport to Union Station in downtown Denver in just 37 minutes.

In  the meantime, while the airport gains various awards and recognitions as it offers its millions of passengers the experience of a lifetime, the Denver Airport is gearing up for new improvements for the delight of their clients.  For now, many travelers are eager to witness the brand new Westin Hotel, which will soon open this November 19.
