Skiing at Andes Mountains: the Super C Clouloir; Portillo resort hailed as the best ski spot in Chile

A lot of tourists wanted to reach the top of one of the most famous ski runs in the Andes Mountains: the Super C Couloir. Skiing in Portillo resort takes skiers to the next-level. Great views, exposed steeps and a luxurious hotel awaits the guests.

According to Andes Ski Tours, the Portillo Ski Resort is at the epicenter of the Chilean  Andes, which is less than 2 hours from the Santiago airport and just minutes away from the Argentinean border. The way when  climbing the mountains is an international link between the two countries an it is kept open for travelers. Even when big storms visit the Andes, the roads will still be cleared in just a few hours.

Portillo is an elevated area with its lowest functioning point located at 8,234 feet and its peak at 10,898 feet. One of the main reasons why this resort is popular is because of the area nearby Monte Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas.

Moreover, many of the guests visit the Portillo terrain  for its steep mountains. Even though Portillo is not a wide ski resort compared to other resorts, what makes it unique is that customers will have options for skiing activities from the beginners to experts. The areas accessed by the Va et vients poma surface lifts offer the steepest and most challenging lines at the resort.

The Portillo ski resort features one hotel only, which is the traditional Portillo Grand Hotel as well as two small lodges. A lot of people consider the Grand hotel as the right option at this resort. The resort also offers an outdoor swimming pool and a large hot tub. This is a pretty cool place to be after skiing. There is also a full gym, massage rooms and an indoor sports facility. Cyber cafe and a local cinema are also available for use.

Although there are a lot of ski resorts found in the Andes, the honored Portillo is considered as the Aspen of the area. It has unreal views, exposed steeps and a historic luxury hotel, which pushes many tourists to indulge in the Portillo experience. It is also known as South America's oldest resort, Portillo echoes with history. The walls of Hotel Portillo's halls are framed with hundreds of black-and-white pictures, many dating back in the early 1950s, as claimed by the Denver Post.

Meanwhile, the resort is blessed with an average annual snowfall of 24 feet. But the Portillo season runs comfortably from the middle of June to mid October. Most of the resorts located in the high Andes are also in excellent  conditions throughout the season, but keep in mind that from June and the first 10 days will have snow pack that will not be as thick as in later months.
