Dubai New Urban Zipline: Another Epic Adventure For Thrill-Seekers in the Persian Gulf City

By Staff Writer

Dubai's New Urban Zipline is another attraction added to the futuristic city. Home to the world's superlatives, Dubai is hailed as a cosmopolitan haven home to wonderful tourist attractions, including the biggest flower garden called the Miracle Heaven, largest artificial islands, the Palm islands, the 7-Star hotel, Burj al-Arab, largest dancing fountain, Dubai fountain, and the tallest building, Burj Khalifa.

Dubai's New Urban Zipline runs over 1,800 feet (558 meters) long starting from downtown area near the residential apartment to the rooftop of the Dubai Mall. Adventurer-enthusiasts and thrill-seekers will enjoy the 40-second journey transversing Dubai skyline of up to 50 miles (80 kilometers) per hour, 90 meters above the dramatic landscapes of the city, according to KRDO.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai was the first one to try Dubai's New Urban Zipline.  He was tied into a harness while traveling along the Burj Khalifa and Dubai fountain. As he was passing through the fountain, the prince was seen being splashed with water coming from the giant fountains.

"Leap off and swing across Downtown Dubai with breathtaking views of the fountain," XDubai website says. "We dare you to keep your eyes open."

The New Urban zipline is not open to the public, and people who can only try the new adventure are picked by XLine Dubai,  the organizer that runs action sports activities in the emirate. Weekly, the organizer chooses 30 people to participate and try the new zipline through a social media competition. As of this late, the attraction is only open on invitations, CNN reports.

Chosen participants must present their valid ID. The organizer follows strict policy of admitting only participants, who fall between 50 to 110 kilogram and are between 1.04 to 2.10 meters in height. Dubai's New Urban Zipline will only run until the end of this year, and over 400,000 people are expected to participate in the new adventure.

The new zipline comes as another thrill-seeking adventure apart from skydiving, flyboarding and wingsuiting organized by the same company.  With the zipline, the city is now on its way to becoming the adventure capital of the world. Are you interested to try Dubai's New Urban Zipline?
