More seniors are getting into social media via Stitch

There's a social media site that is garnering a lot of attention from netizens who are looking for an alternative to Facebook and Twitter, and it's created especially for users who are in their 50's.

According to Social Media Today, Stitch is already fast becoming a hit with seniors. Although the site may feel like an online spot for seniors who are looking for dating opportunities and romantic relationships, it's also more than that.

Stitch encourages older adults to engage in other activities such as traveling and cooking, making it a hot spot for like-minded people to meet and mingle.

Marcie Rogo, co-founder of Stitch, shared with TechCrunch how people aged 50 and older are facing the challenge of finding activity partners or people to talk with who share the same interests.

Stitch is a solution to that problem, and its edge is that it doesn't focus entirely on romance for its users, making it a versatile online environment.

According to Stitch website, they recognize that "many different types of companionship" exist and that people will always seek companionship no matter at what age.

Also, while there are over 11,000 websites created for the purpose of finding an online match, there has never been one created mainly for older adults.

Far from being a solution to people who want to commit adultery, Stitch has a zero-tolerance policy for infidelity and encourages taken members to only engage in activities that foster nothing more than friendship and a strong sense of companionship.

The site also claims to hold safety and security a priority for its members, even going so far as to make all profile pictures taken directly through the app so no misleading images, or images of other people, can be uploaded.
