Travel Information: What are the Prohibited Items in Checked In Luggage according to FAA?

It is very important for a traveler to equip one's self with the right travel information before heading to your next journey. This assures a fast and hassle-free check-in at the airport. By checking all the items that one must not carry during travelling, it avoids additional screening that could delay a scheduled flight.

The Federal Aviation Administration has listed the following hazardous materials or hazmat, which are banned in the checked in luggage. Hazmats include flammable liquids and solids, explosives, gases, oxidizers, radioactive materials, toxic and infectious materials, and corrosives. Check these travel information  that were formed by the or the FAA:

1.     Adhesives, flammable that includes pipe cement, Rubber cement, some super glues and other flammable adhesives. It is important to check the product information or the manufacturer's material safety data sheet (MSDS). A "flash point" at or below 140 F (60° C) shows it is a flammable liquid so they are not allowed.

2.     Aerosols flammable that can't be classified as toiletry or medicinal due to the presence of propellant gases.

3.     Aerosols laundry products flammable that are not qualified as toiletry.

4.     Alcoholic beverages over 140 proof or with more than 70% alcohol content are banned for the checked in luggage. This includes 95% grain alcohol and 151-proof rum, according to FAA.gov.

5.     Animal spray, repellant such as bear spray that exceeds 118 ml or 4 fluid ounces or defense sprays that have more than 2% tear gas content.

6.     Avalanche rescue backpack and self-inflating are prohibited because some of these have compressed non-flammable gas or small explosive charge. Only empty gas cylinder is allowed in the U.S.

7.     Burning paste or gel are banned as these are fire-starting liquids.

8.     Camping fuel such as Propane, white gas, Coleman fuel, Sterno, solid fuels, stoves containing fuel because these are flammable, according to TSA Gov.

9.     Chemical kits including Corrosives, oxidizers, and organic peroxides are banned as they are hazardous for traveling.

10.  Electronic cigarettes and devices such as vaporizers, vape pens, atomizers, electronic nicotine delivery systems as they are flammable.

11.  Engine powered equipment with residual fuel is dangerous and therefore not allowed in the checked in luggage.

12.  Fireworks are banned as they are flammable and increases the risks of danger.
