UAE Investments in Belarus Cross $4 Billion As Bilateral Ties Deepen

United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani Al Zeyoudi

The UAE and Belarus are strengthening their economic relationship, with increased cooperation in several key areas. UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, spoke about this growth at the opening of the Minsk International Exhibition Centre.

He shared that UAE investments in Belarus have now crossed $4 billion, placing the UAE among Belarus's top three investors. Al Zeyoudi said these investments cover important sectors like defence, technology, hospitality, and urban development.

He also noted growing interest from UAE companies in Belarus's food and industrial sectors, thanks to the country's strong capabilities. This growing partnership reflects the two nations' shared goal of deeper economic collaboration, WAM reported.

The UAE and the Eurasian Economic Union have finalized a free trade agreement on goods, set to be signed soon in Minsk. A separate UAE-Belarus agreement on services and investments is also complete, pending legal review.

Al Zeyoudi emphasized the need to build on this progress through stronger institutional and sectoral ties. Plans include business delegations, economic councils, and a joint economic committee meeting later this year to boost cooperation.

He also said that there is growing interest in Belarus's food and industrial sectors, thanks to its strong infrastructure and skilled workforce, supporting integration into modern economic sectors.

The opening of the International Exhibition Centre in Minsk marks a key step in UAE-Belarus ties. It is part of the Northern Waterfront project to create a smart economic city, attract tourism, and promote tech-driven investment.

"There is a focus on exploring new opportunities in the food and industrial sectors, given Belarus's advanced production infrastructure and skilled workforce, which enhances prospects for integration in new economy sectors," the minister said.

He also spoke about the International Exhibition Centre inauguration in Minsk with Emirati investments and said, "It represents the launch of an ambitious plan to build a smart economic city in Belarus, aiming to attract investments in tourism, boost the economy, and modern technologies. The project reflects the growing UAE presence in international markets."

Last year, participants of the 10th edition of the annual Camel Trek arrived at the Heritage Village in Dubai after their 557-kilometer journey. These 37 participants represented 16 countries, including Belarus.
