Some people may enjoy an extended layover at any airport, but  a lot of travelers are allegedly considering to avoid the worst of the worst airports of the world. And topping the list provided by SleepingInAirports is the Port Harcourt International Airport in Nigeria..

Every year, SleepingInAirports conducts a survey asking travelers to rate their airport experiences based on the services and facilities available within the terminal, cleanliness, customer service, comfort and their overall airport experience. Basing worldwide, there are a lot of airports that didn't quite make the grade.

Those that top the list of the worst airports in the world collected the most negative feedback from voters this year. These airports fall short in terms of giving any kind of delectable total airport experience. On the other hand, they are considered dirty, uncomfortable, unfriendly and they lack the most basic of services and amenities. They draw out fanatical critiques from those who travel, and countless warnings for future travelers to avoid these terminals.

According to Independent UK, the survey site garnered over 26,000 fliers'  response to find out the best and worst airports around the globe. The common reasons of plastering the terminal of the Port Harcourt International Airport  as the worst airport title are because of unhelpful staffs, lack of seating and broken air-conditioning.

But if you happen to be flying through the Omagwa hub, don't despair. "The good news is that some areas of the terminal have been recently renovated, meaning you can expect actual walls, floors and windows," says the website via Fox News.

Saudi Arabia's Jeddah King Abdulaziz airport claimed the second place on the list as it was last year. This is allegedly due to passengers' frustrations at the "crowded, chaotic and unclean" Hajj terminal. However, a new airport in Jeddah is scheduled to open next year, which is a relief for a lot of flyers.

Getting the third spot is Kathmandu's only international Airport  Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. The airport has been depicted by travelers as "a bus station in an impoverished neighborhood." Moroever, the lack of cleanliness was again a particular concern, as was the lack of soap, air-conditioning and filthy smoking room. 

Next on the list, garnering the fourth spot is the Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan. The  airport was fourth on the list, with poor crowd control the main grievance. One traveler even described, "The person behind you will be trying to cut in front by subtly ramming their baggage cart into the back of your legs. Hold your ground!" Widespread queues all over the airport were also main concerns, as well as the common problem of finding suitable seating.

Claiming the fifth place on the list of worst airports is  the Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport in Venezuela. "Chaotic, uncomfortable and dull," was the major worries among people rating Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport in Venezuela. Even though the free Wi-Fi and two private lounges were highlighted as positives, poor quality and choice of food, inadequate seating and low-standard bathroom facilities saw this airport hit number five in the rankings.

Meanwhile, a lot of travelers cry from reasonable, improvements is being made, there had been few improvements pitched on some of the worst airports expected next year. Moreover, some of the terminals also promise flyers of some renovations, meaning they can expect better walls, floors and windows.
