McLaren has been one of the most looked after names in the world of automotive. Woking is the England-based supercar amenable for some of the fastest and most unforgettable cars ever built.

As reported by the Business Insider, McLaren 650S has a world class performance that can compete for the latest and grand from Ferrari and Lamborghini.  It was in 2014 that McLaren 650S was presented and built upon technology obtained from the McLaren's MP4-12C supercar and P1 hypercar.  It is a step above entry-level supercars including Ferrari's new 488GTB and Lamborghini's Huracan.

"McLaren is a fast moving company, continually striving for improvements and technical advantages," McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt said in a statement at the time of the car's release. "Everything we've learnt from the 12C and the McLaren P1 has gone into the design and development of the McLaren 650S."

McLaren is only a 5-year old automaker and sprouted from the McLaren Technology Group.  It is a company out of the racing team founded by the legendary racer and founder Bruce McLaren in 1960.

The first road car of McLaren was the F1 hypercar car worth $1 million.  Only 106 F1s were ever built with the top speed of 240 mph.  It can easily fetch more than $10 million at auction.

Recognizing a winning track record unrivaled in motorsports, the McLaren 650S Can-Am will be another sure win for the British racing marque.  It was named after the Canadian-American Challenge Cup (Can-Am) series from the 1960's and 1970's.  The car memorializes the 50th anniversary of the first cup competition that is in St. Jovite, Quebec, Canada capturing the innovative; boundary-breaking spirit those races inspired, as reported by Robb Report.

The Can-Am edition was designed by the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) 650S Spider introduced in 2014, and will house a 641 hp, 3.8-liter, TT V-8 engine with a capacity of 500 ft. lbs. of torque.  The bellow is brought to the fore with McLaren's new configured quadruple tailpipe.  It has a power train that includes a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox; the speedster can bolt from zero to 62 mph in 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 204 mph.

The first modern McLaren was the ill-named MP4-12C that signalized the brand's rebirth.  It was replaced by 650S after three years.  Nobody complained since the new McLaren adopted heavily from the P1, the Woking company's top model launched in between the two, according to the Autoevolution.

Having a price tag of £255,850 ($395,352 or £347,927) and only 50 will be available, the McLaren 650S Can-Am could be considered a collectible's item.  In case you're not after which is something exclusive, you may want a convertible McLaren and purchase the 675LT Spider to be launched by next year.
