Microsoft unveils Surface Book, its first ever laptop

Microsoft introduces its first ever laptop in the market bundled with its latest operating system, the Windows 10. The news was announced by Microsoft during a media gathering in Manhattan.

The laptop called the Surface Book, is seen by the audience as a product that could rival Apple's MacBook Pro.

The most outstanding feature about the laptop is the fact that it could be detached making the laptop the fastest tablet, too.

Engadget reported that the detachable screen weighing 1.6 pounds laptop comes with a hefty price tag of $1,499. With its slick design and silver magnesium chassis, the laptop is more appealing for users looking for a premium product.

The detachable screen is 13.5-inch wide also has a feature that will let users know when it is safe to detach the screen since the screen detachment use a different system compared to any tablet with keyboard ever released.

The screen can be detached by tapping on the screen instead of any mechanical on the keyboard itself The Verge reported. Users can also reverse the screen orientation after detaching the screen enabling for a better usage during presentation mode.

The screen comes with 3,000 x 2,000 resolution with 3:2 aspect ratio. Hence, it is able to provide users with 267 pixels per inch. The device can be upgraded up to 16 GB of RAM.

The storage for the basic Surface Book is just like what can be found in a lower end laptop which is just 512 GB. However, Microsoft claims that the company will provide users with option of up to 1TB of storage when it hits the market soon.

USA Today also said that Microsoft claim that the laptop is 50 percent faster than Apple MacBook Air.

The Surface Book also comes with an optional NVIDIA GPU and there is even a secondary battery inside the keyboard case. Microsoft claims that Surface Book battery could last up to 12 hours with a normal usage.

Either in tablet or laptop mode, users can still opt to use the provided stylus which can be easily attached on the side of the computer using the magnet.  

Besides unveiling the laptop, Microsoft executive also unveils the company latest gadget which is the Microsoft Band. The band received an upgrade from its previous version with a smarter feature including the barometer and also its latest Siri-like software, a virtual voice assistant known as Cortana.

However, with new smart watch entering the market, the band did not receive the attention that Microsoft was hoping for.
