JPMorgan CEO Dimon Says Washington Heads to Another Possible Government Shutdown

By Staff Writer

During NBC's Meet The Press, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said that due to "bad management," Washington could be headed to another government shutdown.

Reuters reports that Dimon said Washington's neglect to act on the debt ceiling crisis, immigration, and the government shutdowns have slowed down the nation's economic growth. Without the Washington gridlock, Dimon claims that the economy would have progressed at a faster rate. But he said he does not blame the government since they were elected by the people.

"If we want people in Washington to collaborate, let's elect people who are going to collaborate," Dimon told NBC interviewer Chuck Todd.

Dimon didn't fail to credit some current and former Washington officials for preventing the recession from getting worse. He said, "I give President Bush, President Obama, Hank Paulson, Tim Geithner, Ben Bernanke enormous credit for stopping it from getting worse.  And I think if they had not taken a lot of those actions it likely would've gotten worse.  And they didn't wan'na take the risk, nor do I think they should have."

In NBC News' Meet The Press aired on Sunday, Jamie Dimon explained why the bank he runs, which is the largest bank in America, is the primary target of presidential candidates as punching bag. Dimon also defended all the blames against them and that they are part of the solution now. He said, "You know, we (The Wall Street) had a crisis. A lot of people got hurt. And the average American looks at what happened and they kinda blame Wall Street which I would - It's generally true." However, he explained that mistakes have been admitted and that they are now part of the solution.

Dimon, however, made it clear that he doesn't want to get involved in politics. Though, he admitted that he has donated to Hilary Clinton, he said he is not yet decided on whom to support yet.
