Didi Kuaidi launches carpooling service ‘Shun Feng Che’; Heads off US rivals Uber, Haha Pinche

Didi Shun Feng Che is the new car-pooling service from China's dominant taxi app firm, Didi Kuaidi. It is the latest feature has been released after the merger between Didi Dache and Kuaidi Dache, which hailed as China's dominant taxi hailing app firm.

Just this week, the newly merged startups Didi Dache and Kuaidi Dache announced the official launch of its carpooling service called Shun Feng Che.

Sun Feng Che can make carpooling easier for commuters by the use of smartphone app and big data provided. Car owners can set up their default routes, while passengers can provide information like the location they want to get picked up and where they want to be dropped off. This information will be analyzed by the app and then find matches automatically.

Moreover, this new feature will be used by urban commuters in Beijing, for now. It is expected that by the end of this month, the additional service will be available in 26 cities in China. The firm also said that most drivers were desired to "cost share during their commutes" rather than make profit.

This carpooling service from the China's dominant taxi hailing app is said to help cut down on traffic and pollution caused by too many cars on China's city streets. Without even creating a new app, the company has able to easily grab market share and steamroll competitors.

This new service will be competing against Uber's not profit carpooling service in China called People's Uber released last year and the Haha Pinche that received US $10 million series last month. While the competitors have not disclosed any metrics to show how popular they are or not, Didi Kuaidi said to have already recruited more than one million drivers to the service.

Last month, Didi Kuaidi announced that it would spend 1 billion yuan (US $161 million) to give free and discounted rides to passengers to promote its chauffeur service Didi Express.
