LG G5 has something up its sleeve to rival Samsung Galaxy Note 5's 4K display: iris scanner; more details

By Staff Writer

It seems that the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 is going to encounter another contender, namely, the LG G5. Both devices are expected to closely rival with this one feature, 4k display. However, the G5 may have something up in its sleeve.

It is expected that one of the areas that Samsung and LG would be competing against is the race on 4K resolution displays, which no device yet is having this type of screen. The Galaxy Note 5 is seen to be a candidate for 4K resolution, however, it is still under rumors and speculations.

If Samsung does decide to power the Note 5 with a 4K display, the company might be ending the race and would hold the title as the first smartphone to sport such resolution, along with its rumored specs and features such as Clear view and S View case, Keyboard cover accessory, Super AMOLED flat display, updated octa-core Exynos 7422 processor, and S Pen. And it seems time is running out for LG G5 as the Galaxy Note 5 is already expected to be rolled out on September this year, with JK Shin debunking rumors about a July release date.

However, even if Galaxy Note 5 does come out first with a 4K display along with specs and features, it does not mean that LG G5 won't offer something spectacular to beat its contender. Besides a 4K display, G5 is also rumored to include "iris scanning technology," specifically iris and retina scanning security capabilities. This will also allow the G5 to offer the same fingerprint scanning capability that Samsung Galaxy and Apple iPhone devices have.

Further, G5's retina scanner will be put on the display, which will operate from the front camera of the device. This will serve as a dual purpose, with the hardware scanner the iris of the owner first, and compare it with biometric data stored and maintained by LG's partner Irience.

Other improvements that the LG G5 is expected to bring is a 20 MP rear camera, the ability to take three-dimensional photographs, a true-octacore processor, and inbuilt wireless charging technology.

As for its release date, it was said that LG G5 could possibly be launched before the end of the year due to "sub-par sales of the flagship device (LG G4)." Hence, this will force the company to update their current range before the end of 2015. However, many believe that it will roll out not in 2015 but in Q2 2016, which would be just in time for it to have iris scanning technology.

Despite these exciting rumors, readers should take them with a grain of salt as both Samsung and LG are yet to make official statements.
